I DIDN’T LEARN ABOUT THIS IN DRIVING SCHOOL

Stop says the red light, go says the green
Wait says the yellow light, twinkling in between.
KNEEL, SAYS THE DEMON LIGHTWITH ITS EYE OF COAL SAURON KNOWS YOUR LICENSE PLATE AND STARES INTO YOUR SOUL

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

To see more of the Pearl Harbor Memorial, visit photos posted from the Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona Memorial location pages.

On Dec. 7, 1941, “a date which will live in infamy,” 353 Japanese fighters, bombers and torpedo planes took off in two waves from six aircraft carriers and headed to the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Their attack on Pearl Harbor surprised the Americans. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed, 2,402 Americans were killed, and 1,282 wounded. The following day, President Franklin Roosevelt delivered his “Infamy Speech,” and an hour later the United States declared war upon the Empire of Japan, officially entering into World War II.

Pearl Harbor, known to Hawaiians as Puʻuloa, is still in full use today and remains the homeport of the US Pacific Fleet. It is also home to the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Bowfin submarine museum, and the USS Missouri ship museum, which visitors can tour.
